Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the past five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Norris, who took the points lead from his teammate by just one point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the championship fight, sitting with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team ran a different programme.
Verstappen's team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
Tsunoda slid over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was fortunate to get away with just a minor contact of the fence.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
Hamilton ended the session in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's car in third, 0.619 seconds slower than Piastri's pace.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
